FAQ's

1.) Can the helmet liner system be used in all types of helmets?

The concussion mitigation technology helmet liner system will be adaptable to most helmet manufacturers including the Military and Sports Helmets.

2.) Is the helmet liner system expensive ?

The Concussion Mitigation liner system has three levels of design and will be adaptable to most all helmets. The more data you require from the electronics system the higher the cost. It is simple to install by just removing the helmets normal foam pads. The liner system provides its own Velcro attachment. Depending on the data level of each application the cost to protect the brain can be nominal and less than a good helmet costs.

3.) Does the Concussion Mitigation liner system add much weight to the helmet ?

According to the level of data collection and type of helmet being used and less the original foam pads the liner system should only add a few ounces to the total helmet weight.

4.) How fast does the electronically controlled liner system mitigate the impact energy ?

The initial spike of the impact force will accelerate and reach a peak impulse energy load in 1-2 milliseconds. The Mitigations System will start the decay of the impact immediately and limit this spike possibly down to 40 -50 G’s to the brain within the 1-2 milliseconds time. The Impacted cell Mitigation System will recharge within a few milliseconds

5.) What about maintenance and repair?

With reasonable care the helmet liner system is built to withstand most all normal applications. The electronics system will stand 1,000 G’s of force, is water proof and shock proof. The total liner system can be returned to the factory to be cleaned refurbished, adjusted, aligned and tested for a nominal sum.

6.) How long is the liner system expected to last ?

If treated with reasonable care the electronic liner system is designed to last for several years of use. It uses a small 24 volt DC lithium battery which should be replaced when the battery condition light shows low voltage. An automatic shut off system turns the power off when no movement of the helmet takes place for several minutes.

It will automatically turn the system back on when movement of the helmet occurs. The system will provide mitigation of up to 6-8 concussive impacts before it will need service.

NSI Research has been designing and developing the liner system for more than seven years. Through testing and design refinement it has proven to be the best impact mitigation technology available to help protect the brain.
